Exodus 3
Imagine. A normal day’s work. Boring, tenuous, ordinary. Imagine heading out to your lunch break. You jump in the car in search of the typical fast food, or run out of your building to soak up some sunshine for a few minutes respite from the monotony.
Then imagine. How in an instant, the blink of an eye, everything in your life changes. It’s a burning bush moment. It comes on a normal day. A mundane grayness….and then…..a spark. It catches your eye. Tugs at your soul. And you simply can’t ignore it. Yet you don’t want to look, because you know it will change your life forever. It’s the call. The call from your father. From God Most High. And he is calling you. He is placing you on holy ground, right where you are, in your car, on the park bench, in your office at work. He is placing you on holy ground, simply because you are in his presence.
What is he calling you to? Justice. Freedom. God sees his people, their unjust suffering. He hears their cries. And he calls you to set them free. You stumble back. Try to reason with the creator. “I’m not good enough! I’ve made too many mistakes. I have too many problems. I’ll make things worse. You don’t want me, I’m not worthy of the call. Not holy. Who am I, anyways?”
“You have me.” Comes the reply. ” I will go with you. I Am Who I Am, and I have called you. You are holy because I am holy and you are mine. Through you, I will deliver a nation. Through you, the slaves will be set free. There will be justice for the oppressed.”
Could you do it? Are you ready for the call? Moses was. And the rest is history.
