It Turns Out I’m Not Always Right

09 Nov

Things I’m Thankful For:

I was reading my sister-in-law’s blog yesterday at Strand Over Strand, and I really love what she is doing. 25 Days of Thankfulness. So many times it seems that Thanksgiving is the “red-headed” step-child of holidays. Always overshadowed by Halloween and Christmas. At least in my own life, I don’t do the holiday justice. It’s always easier, for me at least, to bitch and moan about what I don’t have and what I need, rather than take a step back to truly be grateful for the blessings I do have. I was very convicted reading Andrea’s posts. So to honor Thanksgiving and my God, I want to do something similar to Andrea. I want to reflect on all the blessings large and small I have in my life. I won’t get 25 because I started 10 days too late, but it’s better late than never right? I’d love to hear what you’re thankful for as well. Post it to comments, put it on your blog, facebook, twitter, wherever. Lets partake in our gratefulness together!

So here is number 1: I’m thankful that I’m not always right. Most the time, I like to think I am. But that usually gets me and others in trouble. I have an awesome community group at church. We challenge each other. Right now we’re reading a somewhat controversial book and people in my group have differing opinions about it. I always want my opinion about the book to be the correct one and universally accepted by everyone in the group, including my husband J. Well, it’s not. I realized last Sunday, that I’m not always right. Other’s opinions are just as valuable, researched, passionate, and heartfelt as my own. And as usual, when I admit this to myself, I learn a lot.  So here’s to being wrong most of the time! I’m thankful for it.

PS. I am 100% right about the fact that I’m not always right by the way. Just wanted to get that last word in there.
